If you would like to improve your health and well-being through massage, it is best to get regularly scheduled massage. Weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly massage will help keep your muscles loose, your stress level manageable, and your body feeling good.
Helping decrease pain with massage
"The pain in my left shoulder had bothered me for years. After one session, the pain was gone, and it is still gone. I can also move my shoulder much easier. I'm very glad I tried it."
- Stephanie Byrd, Denver, CO
Massage may not help EVERY pain go away, because not every pain is from muscular causes, yet I can tell you that even I have been amazed with some of the results that I've seen (from myself as well as from other massage therapists). I have seen people get rid of pain from car accidents, pain from surgery, pain that they have had for years and thought would never go away.
When performed by a skilled, experienced therapist, massage can be used to decrease pain in one or many parts of the body.
Massage can help:
- Decrease or eliminate pain and discomfort
- Increase range of motion in your neck, shoulder, back, or knee
- Rehabilitate after a car accident, sports injury, or surgery
Massage helps decrease many different types of pain and discomfort:
- Low back pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Stiff or frozen neck
- TMJ (jaw) dysfunction
- Sciatica
- Numbness & tingling in the hands
If you have had a recent trauma (like a car accident), you can usually decrease your pain and improve your quality of life within 3 - 12 sessions. If you have had a recent car accident, you should be evaluated by a doctor before coming in to see me. I am happy to work with your doctor, surgeons, chiropractor, and physical therapist. After you are feeling better you can choose to discontinue massage or get on a regular maintenance schedule.
For chronic pain, it's best to try 3 treatments and then see how you are feeling. If massage is helping you, you can get on a regular schedule. Often, you may benefit from other therapies such as yoga, physical therapy, nutrition therapy, or chiropractic work, in addition to massage.
